A Portuguese colony till it was liberrated in 1961. places of interest include Moti Daman Fort, light House, Gandhi Park & devika Beach.

Silvasa: Also situated in vicinity is this tiny, sleepy town, with lush green forests, large water front & a gorgeous kaleidoscope of flora & fauna. Sightseeing includes Bal Udyan- a children's park with a mini zoo, Tribal Museum etc.

Vapi:An industrail town in the region.
